Art in the Dark lights up Western Park on the 11th and 12th of November 2011. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of this illuminating art event:
Art in the Dark runs from 8.00pm until Midnight on both Friday 11 and Saturday 12 November.
Be prepared to get involved! Most of the works in Art in the Dark are interactive, so have fun and explore.
We have performances scheduled for both nights, so remember to have a look at the artist map and timetable when you arrive at Western Park.
You're going to be in a park after dark, so wrap up warm and bring a torch.
If you're bringing kids along, make sure to organise a meeting spot in case anyone gets lost. Tell the Art in the Dark team (in stylish lanyards) if you need help!
A a lot of these works deal with light, electricity and even people! So be careful where you step, be respectful of performers and their space, and treat the works with care.
I can't believe I'm writing this, but, do not let fireworks off in the park. It's completely unsafe and you'll be escorted out, and probably yelled at by tired-looking people in lanyards.
Be eco-friendly and put your rubbish in the bin!
On that note, our pals from Localist have kindly printed out special artist maps for you all. Keep them as a souvenir, or else drop them back to the Localist combi at the park so that we can re-use them on Saturday night.
Who wants to find a car park in Ponsonby on a Friday or Saturday night? Western Park is on lots of bus routes, and you can catch the Link for a cool $1.80. Or get into theme and cycle or walk!

We recommend popping over the road to our friends at Barrio for a pre-event drink, and, if you're up for it, joining us for a little Art in the Dark party on Saturday night from 10.00pm onwards.
