Last year, Nova Paul's Maori oral history of Western Park, recorded by Nova with Ngarimu Blair from Ngati Whatua o Orekei, was so popular at Art in the Dark that she's kindly given us permission to bring it back for 2011.
Nova Paul
Nova Paul is a film maker and senior lecturer at the School of Art and Design, Auckland University of Technology, where she lectures in Visual Arts and Masters (Art and Design) in moving image and time-based content. Nova is a film maker and video installation artist and works in 16mm and Super 8 film and digital video. Her research focuses on areas that inform her practice; spatial politics, mobility studies and film theory. Her recent film Pink and White Terraces, a 16mm film that uses the early cinematic technique of three colour separation (technicolour) to explore spaces of reflection in her local cityscape, has been exhibited in Telecom 2006 New Zealand International Film Festival, Telecom Prospect 2007: New Art New Zealand, City Gallery Wellington and screened at The Physics Room, Christchurch.
