Marcel Allen & Renee Warner Day for Night
For Art in the Dark, Marcel Allen and Renee Warner will reclaim Western Park as a safe place for the whole community, making it as thriving and alive at night as it is during the day. Their piece, Day for Night, will bring the valley to life with laughter and play with an interactive, site specific video and sound installation in the Western Park playground. The installation will be bright and interactive and Marcel and Renee will encourage the audience to explore the playground at night by transforming it into a fun and safe environment.
The duo will stage a daytime shoot prior to the event, featuring families and friends from the community as they enjoy the playground. They’ll use this footage to help transform the playground into a magical night-time scene for Art in the Dark, the sights and sounds of which will surprise, delight and hopefully entice visitors to have a go on the slide or swings. The community members who participated in the earlier film shoot will see themselves projected upon the space at night, joining their daytime selves in the cue for the slide!
